I dream I have sex with my mom! HELP!! July 30th, 2009
Every Monday I get to dissect a sex or relationship dream for my friends at Em and Lo: Sex, Love and Everything In Between This week’s dream is from a guy who is a little freaked out by his dreams lately…
I have sex with my mom in my dreams! What the HECK is that all about?
Lauri: Yes, major “Eew!” factor with this one. But fear not! Remember, dreams are symbolic and not to be taken literally. Sex, to the dreaming mind, is not always about a physical union you want, but is more often about a psychological union you need. Do you need to connect with your mom in some way? Have you drifted apart, or do you no longer get along? Your dream may be urging you to re-unite. Or do you guys have an awesome relationship? If so, you may get this dream whenever you two really connect and get each other.
It is also possible that your mom is not playing herself at all but rather is standing in for your own “inner Mom,” meaning the part of you that is nurturing and that cares for and “mothers” yourself and others. Your recurring “Oedipus” dreams may merely be a reflection of the fact that you are a big, caring softy.
Whatever the case, these dreams in NO WAY indicate that you are an incestuous freak.

Must… eat… braaaaain… July 29th, 2009
I’ve only ever dreamed of zombies once, and I share that dream in the nightmare chapter in my book So, What Did You Dream Last Night? So it always surprises me how often zombies stagger into the dreamscape of others. But knowing what zombies actually represent to our collective unconscious, it makes sense as to why they frequent our dreams as much as they do. I also think Hollywood plays a role in helping to shape the zombie into the archetype that it is.
Last week I was a guest on KHTS on AJ’s Playhouse in San Diego, CA when a gal called in with a zombie dream… and this one ate brains!
What I didn’t get to address on the air – due to being up against a commercial block – was the brain eating aspect of this dream. Yeah, zombies are known to eat brains, but there is certainly more to it than the fact that it comes with the territory. This dream is showing this caller, not only that her grudge against her mother is something that she needs to let die, but that it is also eating away at her. It is consuming her thoughts, hence the eating of the brain reference. This dream is a very clear message that her grudge has got to go.
Did you hear her relief when she was finally able to understand this dream? I think I might have even heard a chorus of angels sing!! That’s what your dreams are doing for you every single night. They are giving you the answers you need, the advice you seek and the solutions to all your problems… you just need to be able to understand their language.
Don’t let your dreams frighten you! Let them enlighten you!! Grab yourself a copy of one of my books and you’ll easily understand your dreams every morning and get a HUGE edge in life.
A pleasant surprise… July 27th, 2009
Every Monday I get to dissect a sex or relationship dream for my friends at Em and Lo: Sex, Love and Everything In Between This week’s dream is from a gal whose dream is trying to make her feel better about herself…
I had the WEIRDEST dream last night! In the dream, I was sleeping and suddenly I wake up with my mom telling me to get something that was in her wallet which was in my night stand. So I was looking for what she told me to look for (I don’t remember what it was) and I found a vibrator So I started to pleasure myself with it and then I had the best orgasm ever. After that I was just freaked out and woke up.
Lauri: Whenever you wake up in a dream it means you have had a recent “awakening” or realization in real life. Unless you still live with your mom or deal with her on a daily basis, she is not playing herself. Most likely she represents the part of you that is caring and nurturing and knows what is best. This part of you is basically telling you – through this dream – that it’s time to discover and recognize your own value and self worth (any reference to money or wallets in dreams is often about personal value). And this is precisely why you ended up pleasuring yourself. Masturbation in a dream means we are pleased with our self in waking life. Consider this dream a pat on the back from your subconscious!
Response from the dreamer: Hey, thank you so much. I appreciate that you took your time to answer my dream. Everything was going perfect… except for the relationship with my mom.
Lauri: Ah… so that may be where the wallet comes in. Was she making you feel bad about yourself?
Dreamer: Yes, she was! It was because of my new boyfriend; she was kinda jealous about it.
Lauri: Okay, so your dream is asking you – through the voice of your mother – to find the wallet, because it wants you to NOT feel “worthless.” Despite your mom, everything is going well for you. You are a valuable individual so be proud of yourself. Your dreaming mind is apparently pleased with you!
Dreamer: Right on!

It’s the end of the world! July 22nd, 2009
From the book of Revelations, to Nostradamus’ predictions to movies like The Day After, it’s no wonder that when we get an “end of the wrold” dream we wonder if we are actually getting a glimpse of the future!
Nothing could be farther from the truth!! End of the world dreams are very common and come to us when our own personal world, as we now know it, is ending or changing.
Listen to the audio below. It is from KHTS in San Diego when I was a guest on AJ’s playhouse…
One thing I didn’t get to address in the audio, because we are always up against the clock, is the burning she was feeling in the dream. That is actually a significant detail and suggests that her boyfriend really angers her. When you feel heat in a dream, it most often refers to something that is angering you, getting you “hot under the caller.” Less often, it can refer to pressure to get something done, “the heat is on” so to speak.
So the next time you get an end of the world dream, just ask yourself how your personal world is changing or NEEDS to change. Remember, your life is your world; you should fill it with people that will make your world a better place, not a post-apocalyptic catastrophe!
Don’t let your dreams frighten you! Let them enlighten you!! Grab yourself a copy of one of my books and you’ll easily understand your dreams every morning.

Why did I dream I caught my boyfriend in bed with a blonde??? July 18th, 2009
Every Monday I get to dissect a sex or relationship dream for my friends at Em and Lo: Sex, Love and Everything In Between This week’s dream is from a gal who keeps dreaming her boyfriend has a cheatin’ heart…
Hi, I have been having this recurring dream about my boyfriend of seven years. The first one I had we were at a party . My mom, and my best friend were at the counter doing shots. When I turn around there is this guy that has no pants on. I jokingly tell him to go put his pants on, then I realize that my boyfriend is missing. So I go in search of him and find him in bed with some blonde chick! He turns to look at me with this smug expression.
Next I am dragging this girl by her hair down the steps. I go back upstairs and attack him, repeatedly punching him in his face. I woke up bawling, shaking.
Then I dreamt he had forgotten something important and this girl calls me and says, “don’t be mad at him. We were a little busy last night.” I then call him and say, “What’s the deal?” He replies that he has fun with her and he can do what he wants with whomever he wants. Then I woke up. But it really bothers me because he is always at work, or so he says. I want to still be able to trust him but after having these dreams it’s hard.
Lauri: Let me reassure you that dreaming that your mate is cheating on you is the most common dream we all get and it rarely means that is actually the case. So if these dreams are the only reason you don’t trust your boyfriend, you need to do some re-evaluating. You mention that he is always at work — that right there is very likely the cause of these dreams. As far as your dreaming mind is concerned, his work is the third wheel in this relationship. When our mate spends too much time, attention and focus on something that does not involve us, we get the cheating dream. It happens because we feel “cheated” out of the time we want with our mate.
Let’s take a good look at this first dream, as I think it may speak volumes about your relationship! You are with your mom and your best friend. They are likely representative of the roles you play in the relationship. Would you say you are your boyfriend’s best friend? And do you also nurture and “mother” him? Perhaps even nag him as well? The party atmosphere suggests that, for the most part, your relationship is a good time! The guy without the pants is an interesting element to this dream! You tell him to put his pants on. Keep in mind that dreams are a conversation with the self. What you are really doing is telling yourself to put some pants on, i.e. take charge! Has his work schedule been bothering you? Have you been wanting to put your foot down about it?
After the pants incident is when you realize your boyfriend is missing. Whenever someone is missing in a dream it means we miss them, we aren’t seeing them as much as we would like. See how this is all tying together? This is why, when you find him, he acts as if he is proud. Remember, the girl represents the third wheel in your relationship: his work. He must be proud of his work or at least the time and effort he puts into it. The anger and pain you inflict upon these two is directly connected to the pain and frustration you must have over all the time he spends at work.
And notice in the second dream the girl tells you, “Don’t be mad at him. We were really busy last night.” Remember, dreams are a conversation with the self. You are telling yourself not to be so angry. His work keeps him busy.
Basically, your dreams are alerting you to the depth of your frustration over all the time he spends working. Maybe I’m a little old-fashioned, but I’m not so sure you can dictate to him what his work schedule should be…not until the “I do’s” are exchange, anyway. But you can let him know that it often leaves you feeling out in the cold. Maybe he can rearrange his schedule. But if he’s not in a position to do that, then you may want to fill your empty time with friends or a hobby — anything that gives you something to focus on besides the fact that he isn’t there.

How a dream about fish might help a woman get a date… July 16th, 2009
One of the many cool things about the dreaming mind is that it always knows what is best for us. It’s always pointing us in the right direction, advising us and warning us… if we would only pay attention to it!
Yesterday I was a guest on 101.3 The Coast in San Luis Obispo, CA with Bill and Amy. A gal named Colleen called in with a dream about sharks, dolphins and fish, all in twos! Little did she know this dream was advising her on her love life…
And now, since she understands this dream, she’s going to get out there and see what kind of fish she can reel in for herself. Who knows, this dream could be a turning point in her life!
Are you dreaming of fish, snakes, dogs, or other animals? Then you gotta grab yourself a copy of my book So, What Did You Dream Last Night? It’s ALL in there! And it has pretty cool dream inspired illustrations too!!

Mr. X dreams of his ex… July 10th, 2009
The ex haunts all our dreams. There is no escaping it!! But take heart in knowing that these dreams are rarely about the ex at all.
I was on KZHT in Salt Lake the other day with Frankie, DB and Jessica when a “Mr. X” called in (that always means the dream is going to include sexual content!) and wanted to know why he was suddenly dreaming of his ex. His dream shows us that the sex-with-the-ex dream does NOT mean we are pining away for times gone by but rather is commenting on the here and now…
What about you? Have you been dreaming of your ex?
