Sounds pretty ridiculous, huh?  Most of us think our dreams are random and ridiculous, but nothing could be farther from the truth!

I am always preaching that everything in your dream, no matter how bizarre, is careful pieced together by your wise dreaming mind in order to give you a valuable message you need to know about your life right now.

The audio below is a great example of how a seemingly ridiculous and non sequitur dream is actually giving very sound advice to a gal about the need to get along with her co-worker.  This is from when I was a guest on AJ’s Playhouse on KHTS in San Diego…

Now that Lindsey understands this dream, you can bet her attitude and behavior toward her co-worker will change, because her dream is showing her that her very livelihood (represented by her father) is at stake.

Don’t you love Lindsey’s “Aha! Moment?”  When you can look into your dream rather than at your dream, you will get “Aha! moments” too, because your dreams are jam-packed with helpful advice, tailor made just for you and your current situation. My Dream Books will help you understand your very own dream language so you can get the important messages they are giving you every single night!  When you can understand your dreams, you can change your life!

“I got your book yesterday and started using it last night. It was SO easy to see how my dreams match my thoughts from yesterday, especially the things that i forgot to write about. ”  – Nikole, Memphis, TN

Every Monday I get to dissect a sex or relationship dream for my friends at Em and Lo: Sex, Love and Everything Inbetween  This week’s dream is from a gal who lost her fiance to death and is trying to move on…

My fiancé died of a health issue in December ‘07. He had been sick for almost 3 years. I took GREAT care of him and I would have for the rest of my life. But I recently have found someone new and he is truly the love of my life! I had this dream that my ex was back alive and we were in the hospital together because he was still sick…but I had to tell him that he was going to die and that I didn’t want to be his girlfriend anymore…What does all this mean?

Lauri: You have once again found someone you wish to spend the rest of your life with, and while this is wonderful news, it is bringing to the surface a bit of guilt. Unfortunately, guilt is an all too common element in the lives of those that are trying to move on after their true love dies. This is because there is an underlying sense of betrayal at work here… after all, you two never broke up! Neither of you decided that you didn’t want to be in the relationship anymore.

Because of this, a part of you must feel that if you do move on into wedded bliss with someone else, you are cheating on your late fiancé — or, at the very least, you are loving him less. This is why so many people never remarry. They feel it is disrespectful to the one they loved and lost to death.

My own grandmother is guilty of this! Her husband died in a car crash when he was in his 40s and she never married again and never even dated either! She spent her remaining 40 some odd years on Earth alone… all because she did not want to betray her late husband. Sigh.

Thankfully, your dreaming mind is stepping in and helping you to avoid this lonely fate! It is helping you to make the psychological and emotional “break” from him that you need so that you can move on. Even though you are talking to him in the dream, you are really talking with yourself and you are saying: “I need to release myself from the past. I do not want to live in the past anymore. This chapter of my life is over.” In other words, this dream was extraordinarily healthy and was bringing you closure so you can move forward into your new and exciting relationship guilt-free!

It’s important to pay attention to your dreams after someone you love dies. They are a built-in healing mechanism, designed specifically to help you cope with and move on from your loss.  I have awhole chapter in my book So, What Did You Dream Last Night? about dreams after death, how they help us heal and how they can even be contact dreams!

“My girlfriend LOVES this book, and our friends who have picked it up from the coffee table have dug it too. That’s why I had to order 2 more!” - Robert, Kill Devil Hills, NC

What is your dream house like?   May 26th, 2009

Houses in dreams are VERY important symbols, and quite possibly one of the most revealing dream symbols of all. This is because the house in your dream represents YOU. It is where your psyche resides. It is the dwelling place of your soul. It is crucial to pay attention to the state of the house in your dream, the furnishings, the style… all of these things are directly connected to you and your state of mind right now.

Last week I was a guest on Kix 97.9 in Springfield, MA when the traffic reporter told me her house dream, and it seems she has a bit of a haunting issue she may wanna take care of…

In the last year or so, my dream houses always have tons of bedrooms, one bedroom right after the other and they are rarely used but are ready for guests. What is your dream house like?

In my book So, What Did You Dream Last Night? there is a whole chapter on houses in dreams and what each different room means! Plus, what sex dreams say about your personality, why nightmares are good for you and more!

“This book has helped me so much. I dont wake stressed about my dreams. I have also used it to help my wife and some friends. The best purchase I’ve made!  It’s a great read.  Thank you so much!!”
- Shane, Canastota, NY

We all tend to do unspeakable things in our dreams from time to time, and sure, these dreams certainly do make us wonder about ourselves, but if these dreams were to be taken literally we’d all be closeted murderers, cannibals and adulterers!

If you find yourself to be a homicidal maniac in your dreams, fear not! There is actually good solid advice for you hidden within that murderous rampage. The audio below is just such an example. I was a guest on Kix 97.9 in Springfield, MA the other morning when a guy named Joel called in and wanted to know why he dreamed of shooting his dog!

You see, even the most vile of acts in a dream hold constructive advice for you. Remember, your dreams are not there to frighten you, they are there to enlighten you!

What sort of heinous things have you done in your dreams?

Are you dreaming of dogs, lions, snakes, or other animals? Then you gotta grab yourself a copy of my book So, What Did You Dream Last Night? It’s ALL in there!  And it has pretty cool dream inspired illustrations too!!

“I bought this book for my daughter and she loved it so much she told me I had to get one of my own! Thank you!!” – Yvette, Santa Maria, CA

Usually when we dream of babies it is a positive sign of new developements in our life, something that is full of potential if we give it the proper attention and focus.

But when I was on KZHT in Salt Lake City the other morning, a young gal called in with a baby dream that seemed to point to an unwanted developement…

This dream is a clear message from Josie’s wiser self that her Mom is pushing her to take on far more than she is capable of.  She’s practically a baby herself! Now that she can see her situation from this perspective, let’s hope Josie puts her foot down with her Mom and takes her life back.  How do you think Josie should handle it?

Dreams help us in every area of our lives, relationships, career, overcoming the past… you name it!  When you can understand your dreams, your life gets better because decisions are easier, tough situations are clearer and you’re just plain smarter when you dream! My book Cracking The Dream Code will help you learn your own dream language so you can get an edge in life.

Every Monday I get to dissect a sex or relationship dream for my friends at Em and Lo: Sex, Love and Everything Inbetween  This week’s dream is from a pregnant gal who dreams her babydaddy is cheating on her…

I caught the father of my unborn child in a unknown bedroom in bed with an unknown woman. I was very upset and kept telling him to get up, but he acted like he wasn’t hearing me. This is the second dream I’ve had with this situation.

Lauri: Hopefully you have no other reason to suspect him of getting his jollies elsewhere than these dreams, right? If there is no other reason to suspect him, then fear not! It is actually quite common for a pregnant gal to dream her mate is cheating… especially once she has lost her girlish figure and feels more like a school bus than anything else. You are in incubator mode and often, sweet lovin’ is the last thing on your mind! You may be aware that you aren’t having sex with him as much as you used to and deep down you’re worried he is either not finding you attractive anymore or is finding other women more attractive than you. If this is not the case then you may be feeling “cheated” out of attention from him in other ways. Is he not showing enough concern over your delicate condition lately? Is he not appreciating your mood swings, swollen ankles and sharp shooting pains that go from your hamstring all the way up your back? Maybe you don’t feel he is doing enough for you or hearing your complaints, which is why he did nothing in the dream and acted like he didn’t hear you. Whatever the case, the dream is alerting you that there is some form of disconnect… enough of a disconnect that your dreaming mind had to give you the message more than once. Perhaps you can raise these concerns and clear the air. A good way to start the conversation is, “You know, I’ve been having the strangest dreams…”

What kind of crazy dreams did you have during your pregnancy?

The dreams we have during pregnancy can be doozies! But there is no need to let them worry you any more! I have a whole chapter on dreams during pregnancy in my book So, What Did You Dream Last Night?  It covers daddy-to-be dreams too! PLUS nightmares, sex dreams, animals n dreams… it’s all in there! Grab yourself a copy today and understand your dreams like never before!!

Zombies!!   May 15th, 2009

Have the living dead ever staggered into your dreams? Believe it or not, but zombies are a pretty popular dream symbol and their meaning is probably not what you think!

I was on th air on KIX 97.9 with Mike and Shaggy in the morning in Springfield, MA when a listener called in with a recurring zombie dream that turned out to have a very important message for him!

Zombies, vampires, demons and plenty more creepy dream symbols are explained in my book Cracking The Dream Code.  Your dreams never have to scare you again! Instead of being frightened, be enlightened! Grab yourself a copy today and understand your dreams like never before!

“I received both books and lifetime membership to your website from my wonderful husband as a mother’s day gift.  I am not a reader but I cannot put these books down or stop thinking about what I’m learning!  I have not been this excited in I don’t know how long!  My husband originally got me these books because I have crazy dreams constantly and we wanted to try and make sense of these dreams, but reading the books and being a part of the membership website, it’s so much more than just trying to make sense of dreams, it really is a whole other world!  Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for changing my life!”   - Shannon Harris

I am always preaching that the most important rule to figuring out your dreams is to look at what happened and what was on your mind the day before the dream. That is usually a good way to figure out what the dream is commenting on.

Sometimes however, the dream may be commenting on something that is very deep-rooted, something that you may not consciously give thought to but that is always there, lingering just beneath the surface, waiting for your focus so it can be worked out.

Below is just such an example.  This is from when I was on the air on KZHT in Salt Lake City Monday with Frankie, DB and Jessica.

As you heard, deep-rooted issues are not as easy to pinpoint because they are about something the dreamer does not wish to face and deal with during the day.  Had we not had to move on to a commercial break, I would have been abke to dig even deeper for this caller and find out exactly what the issue is.  But more often than not, when our dreams tell us it’s time to face something, as Lorrie’s did, it is usually a call to action, a call to stop ignoring, to stop denying… to stop burying. This is why the ex is caressing and flirting with her in the dream. Her wiser inner mind wants to seduce her into dealing with this issue rather than continuing to ignore it… just as she was trying to ignore him in the dream.

The issue is very likely a similar anger Lorrie holds towards her ex and towards her sister, an anger she may not have ever dealt with in a healthy manner, that she may have pushed down, which is never a good idea because it will always resurface at some point, as it has in her dream!

Our dreams do not allow us to become complacent. For our own good, they will point out issues we need to deal with properly so we can continue to move forward in our life without any baggage or negativity weighing us down and holding us back.  Our dreams are the best friend we’ve got, who know exactly what is best for us and exactly how to do what needs to be done so we can live our best life!  Why let another powerful dream slip away? Grab yourself one or both of my dream books and get an edge in life others don’t have!

“I own both of your books and let me tell you, they are great!  I have people at work asking ME to interpret their dreams. It’s kinda fun!”   – Doreen, Three Lakes, WI

Every Monday I get to dissect a sex or relationship dream for my friends at Em and Lo: Sex, Love and Everything Inbetween  This week’s dream is about a gal who is in a very urgent situation…

In my dream I woke up to find a demolition ball outside of our apparent apartment building getting ready to knock it down.  My kids father was just kinda standing there saying, “Oh cool…I forgot to tell you they were knocking this place down.” I’m running around getting the kids together so we can leave, and he sits down and watches TV…I wake up in a cold sweat.

Lauri: When we wake up in a dream, as you did, it means we have recently “woken up” to a real life issue we had previously been turning a blind eye towards.  What realization have you had lately?  From the context of this dream, alas, it seems to have been a rude awakening.

What part of your life is on the verge of breaking down, of being destroyed?  In the dream it is being shown to you in the form of your home, which is a good indication your daily life, as you now know it, is at stake.

This dream is a warning sign you are sending yourself that there is a very destructive force in your life that needs to be eliminated ASAP!  Is it the father of your two young children?  Or is it something else that he has allowed to go on or has refused to help you with?

Just as you are rushing to get out of the apartment in the dream, so are you needing to urgently get out of a waking life situation. The father is of no help in the dream because, deep down, you know this is something only you can truly take care of.  The message of the dream is: get out of this situation ASAP before everything seemingly crumbles around you.

The Jerk   May 7th, 2009

Ever hear of the Hypnic jerk? What about the Myoclonic jerk? No? Well, I’ll bet you’ve experienced it before!

You know that feeling where you’re just at the onset of sleep and then suddenly and spastically jerk yourself awake? That’s called a Hypnic jerk. A friend on Facebook asked me about it and that is what prompted me to write this post.

It happens when you are in the first stage of sleep, the Hypnogogic state, hence the name Hypnic jerk. During this state the body completely relaxes and muscle control begins to fall away causing a falling sensation, which is why we call it “falling” asleep. If you have too much on your mind or if you are having a fitful night of sleep and are not fully releasing your worries, you are far more likely to jolt awake from the experience because a part of you is alert enough to go into fight or flight mode and try to catch your fall, which results in the Hypnic jerk.

Sometimes it will happen and you won’t even wake from it. If you watch a baby fall asleep, you’re likely to see it happen but the baby won’t wake from it.

Sometimes little mini dreams come along with it. Even though you aren’t in REM at this point, the hypnogogic state will cause dream-like visions because it is an hallucinatory state. My facebook friend had “dreamt” that she slipped on a wet sidewalk when she jerked awake. I once “dreamt” I tripped over a wrinkle in the concrete floor of the grocery store! My brother in law once jerked so hard that he kicked the wall. He actually went to the hospital because he thought he had broken his foot!

What about you? What are your experiences?

You dream every single night. Why not tap into this powerful force and start turning your life around? My book Cracking The Dream Code will help you learn your own dream language so you can get an edge in life others don’t have.

“Hi Lauri! I LOVE your book Cracking The Dream Code… I refer to it almost every morning! Even with as long as I have had it I am STILL amazed by the accuracy!” – Mindy, Salt Lake City, UT
